His Story

Born and raised in Chattanooga, TN, Jay is a retired Army Bomb Tech, Paratrooper and Logistician. During his 30-year career, Jay had the chance to work with the Nation's sons and daughters on five continents and a several contested areas, including three combat tours in Iraq. Over his career, Jay served in a wide variety of command, leadership and staff roles across numerous levels of the US Army and Joint Forces. 

 

Over the years, Jay continuously sought to educate himself and develop his capabilities. He was given the chance to earn his MA at the prestigious US Naval War College in Newport, Rhode Island where he was one of thirty students selected to attend the Maritime Advanced Warfighting School (MAWS).

 

Throughout his career he received many prestigious honors including the Legion of Merit, two Bronze Stars, the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, five Meritorious Service Medals and the Joint Service Commendation Medal, in addition to several other medals and decorations. Jay attained the Master Explosive Ordnance Disposal Badge and earned the title of Jump Master on the way to attaining the Senior Parachutist Badge. In addition to his three combat tours in Iraq where he was awarded the Combat Action Badge, Jay led Soldiers and Service Members around the globe including Germany, Mexico and the Republic of Korea.

 

After his retirement from the Army in 2019, Jay joined Booz Allen Hamilton, where he currently serves as a Strategist and Management consultant with a focus in Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction. A lifetime learner, Jay recently obtained his MBA from Tennessee's Haslam College of Business through the Executive MBA Strategic Leader Program. It was during this program that he was offered the chance to mentor future MBA Candidates and he discovered his love for Leadership and Executive Coaching which spurred him to found JCL & Associates.  

Jay currently sits on the Board of Directors for the First Command Educational Foundation. The FCEF is an organization dedicated to providing sound financial education and resources to our Nation's Service Members to ensure their fiscal health over their career in and the years to follow.
